Support LOCAL Garden

These past few months, we have been especially proud to stand beside our partners at the Merrymeeting Food Council, local food banks, farms, and more as KELT’s LOCAL Garden serves as a part of the wider tapestry of Maine’s food system.

If you feel you are in a position to help others this holiday season, please consider donating to KELT’s LOCAL Garden and help us raise $3,000 to continue to make a difference in our local food system. Your donation will support our work in public education & community building, climate adaptability, and food security.

OR consider giving to one of our partners, working hard to feed our neighbors! Click the links below to donate to one or multiple of these incredible organizations.

At KELT we understand the interconnectedness of land conservation and food security. The climate crisis threatens agriculture, leads to less stable food sources, and disproportionately affects vulnerable communities. As we strive to protect valuable habitats and species, we also work to protect our human communities - improving your quality of life; building sustainable infrastructure; ensuring access to natural spaces, clean water, locally grown food; and protecting important resources.

While our work in land conservation, restoration, and stewardship all impact local food security - our most direct action is done at our LOCAL Garden, a community growing space that contributes hundreds of pounds of free produce to neighbors in need every year. Resources like LOCAL Garden and the Sharing Table where we offer our produce, are becoming increasingly more necessary and impactful. We see this work as integral to our mission and an important way we can remain a steadfast resource in difficult times. As outlined in our 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, we strive to support vibrant habitats and healthy, equitable communities in the Kennebec Estuary region into the future. We do this by partnering with local organizations and community groups, thus creating a network of resources and building our collective social resilience.
