Whiskeag Rd. Field Project
Thanks to the tremendous community support of this project, we’ve raised over $147,000 from local donors in just six months! We’re nearing the finish line and donations are still being matched to conserve this beautiful field & forest.
Thorne Head CLOSED 4/16 - 4/18
Multiple trees throughout the preserve need to be felled in order to ensure that our trails remain safe for all our visitors!
Please stay out of the preserve during this time.
Annual Meeting & Member Celebration!
Join us Tuesday, April 9th, at Maine Maritime Museum for an evening celebrating KELT’s work last year! Nancy Olmstead, TNC Conservation Ecologist, and KELT staff will present on invasive species in Maine and in the estuary!
Birds, salamanders, and amphibians!
Our spring events are on the calendar and include walks & talks to observe some of our favorite critters and creatures of the estuary, the return of Wednesday Workdays, & more!
A New Home In The Estuary
You’re invited to visit KELT’s new space at 872 Washington Street! Thanks to a generous offer from a longtime supporter, KELT is able to own our own office space for the first time. We’re eager to welcome you to this charming spot, serving as our community landing-pad to protect and care for the lands and waters you love throughout the Kennebec Estuary!
Our Changing Climate
KELT is helping people and nature to prepare for the serious challenges brought on by our changing climate. By approaching these formidable challenges with local projects and partnerships, KELT aims to be a reliable climate change resource for you and your neighbors.
