SPRING: Junior First Aid with Wild Maine Med Four-seasons Junior First Aid Series

Spring Session: Four Seasons Junior First Aid

Spring in Maine is a season of transition– melting snow, rising water, and warming temperatures– bringing a new set of risks and opportunities for exploration. As trails soften, ticks emerge, streams swell, and bikes come back out, our Spring Junior First Aid session is designed to help kids recognize risk and move through it responsibly with confidence.

Through hands-on scenarios, games, and real-world problem solving, our Spring session builds a strong foundation in emergency response– scene size-up, patient assessment, decision-making, and action– applied directly to early-season environmental risks like tick bites, cold water exposure, and muddy trail injuries.

Kids won’t just learn what to do, they’ll practice how to think under real-world conditions. This is immersive, experiential learning rooted in the rhythms of the natural world, designed to build the confidence to get out and adventure safer.

When: Saturday, May 9th, 9am - 2pm

Where: Holt research forest, 508 Old Stage Road Arrowsic Maine 04530

General Program Description:

Four Seasons Junior First Aid is a seasonally-based First Aid program with Wild Maine Med designed to prepare kids to safely explore and enjoy Maine year-round. Rooted in the rhythms of the natural world, each session focuses on the unique risks and realities of the current season– whether it’s water safety, sun exposure, and dehydration in the summer, or cold injuries, ice safety, and emergency preparedness in the winter. Through hands-on scenarios, games, and interactive skill-building, participants not only learn how to recognize and respond to season-specific challenges, but also reinforce core first aid principles like patient assessment, decision-making, and emergency response. This dynamic program builds confidence, resilience and responsibility– helping kids develop the awareness and skills they need to anticipate risks, make smart choices, and take action when it matters most.
