Explore what makes a vernal pool unique and discover the interesting critters that make these important seasonal habitats their home!

When: Wednesday, May 6th, 10am - 11:30am

Where:Thorne Head Preserve, Bath

A vernal pool is a seasonal, fish-free pool of water that provides valuable habitat for a variety of plants and wildlife. Maine Master Naturalists, Carol Nelson and Wendy Van Dyke, will lead participants in exploring Thorne Head’s vernal pools, sharing information about vernal pools' ecological significance and how to identify different critters that live in these special habitats. Come ready to hike off slightly off trail, where the Master Naturalist will offer the opportunity to get close to these vernal pools and see some of these interesting species.

This is a light rain or shine event and the workshop content is targeted for all ages, adults and children are welcome.
