Vernal Pool Exploration

Explore what makes a vernal pool unique and discover the interesting critters that make these important seasonal habitats their home!

When: Tuesday, April 21st at 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Where: Lilly Pond Community Forest, Bath

A vernal pool is a seasonal, fish-free pool of water that provides valuable habitat for a variety of plants and wildlife. Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District staff and Tyler Pascocello, KELT Community Engagement Manager, will lead participants in exploring Lilly Pond Community Forest, sharing information about vernal pools' ecological significance and how to identify different critters that live in these special habitats. Come ready to hike off trail and listen for chorusing amphibians calling for their springtime sweethearts!

This is a light rain or shine event and the workshop content is targeted for all ages, adults and children are welcome.

This event is free and open to the public! This program will be after dark to try to take advantage of peak amphibian activity, so a headlamp/flashlight is recommended.
