Phrag to Food: Garden Workshop

Join Garden Coordinator Jaime in harvesting the invasive species Phragmites!

When: Thursday, September 11 at 9AM

Where: LOCAL Garden, Bath

Participants will meet at LOCAL Garden to cut back and harvest the patch of invasive phragmites behind the property. Prepare for intense physical labor (cutting back the reeds and dragging them out). During the workshop, Jaime will discuss the innovative ways she uses phrag in the garden - primarily as an inexpensive and zero-waste alternative to straw mulch. Jaime, with her background in mushroom farming, also utilizes the phrag for mushroom inoculation to support soil nutrients and combat jumping worms.

The program offered by KELT is free and open to the public. This is a light rain or shine event, registration is not required.
