Nature Journaling Walk - Art in the Estuary

When: Wednesday, September 9 | 10:00–11:30 a.m.
Where:
Thorne Head Preserve, Bath, Maine

Slow down, look closer, and discover magic in the woods at Thorne Head!

Join artist and naturalist Jill Osgood for a guided nature journaling walk through the beautiful landscapes of Thorne Head Preserve. Whether you're an experienced artist or have never picked up a sketchbook, nature journaling is simply about paying attention—with curiosity rather than perfection.

We'll begin by creating a simple one-sheet mini journal (materials provided) before setting out along the Overlook Trail. Our first stop will be the quiet pond, where we'll pause to listen, observe, sketch, and capture what catches our attention. We'll then continue to the scenic Mushroom Cap Overlook, where you'll have time to write, draw, and reflect while surrounded by the sights and sounds of the preserve.

Expect a leisurely walk, plenty of quiet moments, and gentle guidance in using words and simple sketches to record your observations. No artistic experience is necessary—just a willingness to slow down and see the natural world with fresh eyes.

Meet at the Thorne Head Preserve parking lot at 10:00 a.m. The walk concludes at 11:30 a.m.

Please bring: a pen or pencil, something to sit on if you'd like, water, and weather-appropriate clothing. Paper for your journal will be provided.
