Take advantage of the break in the humidity and spend some time tuning in to the natural world.

When: Saturday, August 18 at 9:00am

Where: Butler Head Preserve in Bath

KELT invites you to make some time for yourself and experience the power of mindfulness in nature.

Join KELT volunteer and Bath resident Tim Blair at the City of Bath’s Butler Head Preserve on Saturday, August 18 shortly before 9:00am. The walk will give participants an opportunity to focus on individual senses while walking through this wonderful city property. Tim will provide some initial guidance to prepare for the walk followed by stops along the way for different practices in mindfulness.

Butler Head Preserve is owned by the City of Bath and protected by a conservation easement held by KELT. The Bath Community Forestry Committee maintains the trail network and manages the property. At 141 acres, Butler Head Preserve is forested with shoreline along Merrymeeting Bay and Butler Cove.

The walk will last approximately one hour and cover easy to moderate terrain. This event is light rain or shine and will be rescheduled in the event of heavy rain.

Tim Blair is a Nonprofit Systems Consultant living in Bath and is a teacher of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reducation Program (MBSR), an 8-week class that helps participants cope more effectively with short and long-term stressors using meditation, group discussion, and gentle yoga.

To get to Butler Head Preserve: From Bath, follow Oak Grove Ave. north and continue as it becomes Whiskeag Rd. Turn right on North Bath Road and travel north until you reach Varney Mill Rd. Turn right and continue north until you see Butler Head Rd. (Google Maps calls it Butler’s Cove Rd.) on the left and the sign for Butler Head Preserve. Turn left and follow the road to the first parking area and kiosk.
