Carrie Kinne, Executive Director

Carrie graduated from the University of Maine and has lived and worked in Maine all her life. Her career has focused primarily in the area of fundraising where she has spent the last twenty-five years working with a variety of non-profits across the state. She grew up on the Kennebec River in Farmingdale but now lives in North Yarmouth and has a camp in Lincoln with her family. Laura Sewall, Consultant, Former Executive Director, comes to the KEC with a background in education and perceptual psychology. She taught Ecopsychology at Prescott College, in Arizona, for a dozen years before moving to Maine in 2003. She holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Law, a PhD in Visual Science, and she is the author of Sight and Sensibility: The Ecopsychology of Perception. Anne Reiter, Administrative Coordinator, Kennebec Estuary Collaboration has worked for 18 years as an environmental, health and safety professional in the energy and biotech industries. She holds a B.S. in biology and environmental Studies from Bowling Green State University and a master’s in environmental health from Tufts University. A strong desire for a slower life with “more green and less noise” brought her to Maine and led to a career shift toward land conservation. Anne enjoys spending time with her husband and two children paddling and swimming.

Jack Witham, President, LKRLT, helped found the Lower Kennebec Regional Land Trust in 1989. Jack has been the on-site Associate Scientist for the Holt Research Forest in Arrowsic, Maine since its inception in 1983. He has a B.S. in Wildlife Management (University of Maine 1976) and a M.S. in Public Policy (University of Southern Maine 1996). At the forest he is involved in research, outreach, stewardship, and supervision; application of research results to regional forestry issues is one of his principal interests.  Jack is a life-long resident of Maine. He lives in Arrowsic with his family and enjoys hiking and hunting.

Mary Jo Steiner, President of the Phippsburg Land Trust, grew up in Ohio where she attended college before earning a graduate degree in marine botany in Rhode Island. She has taught biology, chemistry and oceanography in Florida, Virginia and Rhode Island.  In 1979, she and her family moved to Maine. Mary Jo has volunteered at the Maine Maritime Museum, the Patten Free Library and with several choral groups. She has been a member of the PLT board since 1999. Alicia Heyburn, Outreach Coordinator, LKRLT, graduated from Colorado College with an interest in design and printing and has worked in publishing and marketing for 14 years. Alicia moved to Maine full time in 1994 after a lifetime of summers in Cundy's Harbor where her family has land under protection with the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust. She likes to be involved with the community and find ways to get more people out on the land, and learning about the incredible place we call home.
