Help complete the Whiskeag Trail with the Maine Conservation Corps

June- July, 2010

KELT and our partners at Bath Trails have hired a team from the Maine Conservation Corps to work for eight weeks this summer to complete the Whiskeag Trail, a 5 mile bike and hike trail that connects the Bath Area Family YMCA to KELT's Thorne Head Preserve on High Street in Bath.

The trail team would love help from volunteers!

Work will include building bog bridges and water bars, rerouting trails, implementing drainage and erosion control measures.

Volunteers are asked to wear work shoes/boots, pants are preferred, bring gloves, water and a lunch. MCC will provide all tools and training.

Volunteer work days are schedule on:

June 29-July 1
July 7-8
July 13-15
July 20-22

Please meet team leader Dave Bartoletti at 9:00am at the Sewall Woods parking lot on Whiskeag Road in Bath (directions).

To sign up, get more details and weather updates call Annie at 442-8400 or areiter@kennebecestuary.org.

This project is funded by the Recreational Trails Program, Merrymeeting Bay Trust, Kennebec Estuary Land Trust and Bath Trails.
